![]() ![]() It is harder if you try to read one “upright” I happily read my version of “Hearing and Reading, Telling and Writing” in this way and did just fine. The screen size for pdf’s isn’t too bad if you turn the nook sideways and then size the page so that the text just fits in the 7in the long way and it works for these middle-aged eyes. I annoyed a son last week with game sounds, anyway, and had to turn the sound down! The speaker isn’t terribly loud but it could be worse. Pandora is loaded on the Nook Color out of the box. I haven’t done this yet myself as I’m not good with audiobooks. Son says you can hook up headphones to do any normal format audiobook. I really like the thing, I was a very dubious potential e-book-er but I like it a LOT more than I thought I would. It has a geography game app also that I let my youngest use when he gets antsy, lol. But I like the color pictures in my magazines–I get Taste of Home on it, especially, that I like to see the pix in color. I like the color part, although I know that makes it different than e-ink. Although he liked my Nook so much that he went and got a tablet after I got it so HE could have one. I think he put those on for HIM and not me, lol. □ My son also fixed it so I can get Android apps, so I have a complete free set of indexed and linkable scriptures, and he loaded some games on it. I like the size–it is bigger than my mom’s Kindle but I am old and the bigger screen size is nice. What I specifically use the web for is reading webzines so I don’t have to sit at the computer to follow my professional journals and stuff like that. I can get anything a Kindle can get–my son rooted it for me, so I can get any Nook book, any Kindle book, any epub, and any pdf. there were 2 books that I would have loved to have, but when I went to glance through them, I didn't enjoy holding it or the small letters so I passed on the books knowing I wouldn't enjoy reading it.I have one, just got it a couple of weeks ago. For example, I was at my library with my kids and I saw some paperbacks on sale for 50 cents. There are so many advantages to an e-reader over a book. Some books I borrow from the library are only EPUB books, but I download the Overdrive app to my Kindle HD and I can read them on that device. ![]() And, I have 3 local digital libraries that I can borrow from and the selection is getting better and better. I take advantage of Amazon Prime's 1 free book to borrow a month. I have taken advantage of some freebies and have found some really good books in the process. And, I feel, the books that I purchase are reasonably priced. I have a list of books that I get notifications when the price drops so I try to save money here and there. I don't like to read with it outside as the glare bothers me. I also enjoy my Kindle HD for watching movies, listening to music and surfing the web. I have my Kindles set to sync so it goes right to the page I am on no matter what device I use. I read my Paperwhite during the day and early evening and read my Kindle HD at night as I like to read with the black screen and white letters. I keep the Touch at work so I'm not carrying my Kindles back and forth. I have the Kindle Fire HD 8.9", the Kindle Touch and the Kindle Paperwhite. we buy everything from Amazon and have been Amazon Prime members for about 4 years now. I don't know anything about the Nook at all. ![]()
